At the close of each Lacrosse season, we take time out to recognize all those individuals that have given more than their required time to make this sport an outstanding experience for all. We are surrounded by amazing volunteers that should be recognized as heroes of the game. We also recognize all the athletes that give of their mind, body and soul to this great game. Queen City Minor Box Lacrosse is pleased to honor these individuals with awards. These awards are handed out annually at the conclusion of the GOLD MEDAL games for each age division. Please submit your nominations for these awards to our board .

QCMBL JUNIOR LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Must be a Registered QCMBL Junior Box player between the age of 17 -21.
Nominations accepted from the membership.

  • Should be an above-average player
  • Should give extra back to QCMBL Box Lacrosse such as Coaching, Refereeing, Scorekeeping, and other box lacrosse volunteer activities, please list on form provided.
  • Must be a team leader, on and off the floor.
  • Should have a consistent academic standard.


QCMBL LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE YEAR – MALE

Must be a Registered QCMBL Male Minor Box player between the age of 8-16
Nominations accepted from the membership.

  • Should be an above-average player
  • Should give extra back to Box Lacrosse such as Coaching, Refereeing, Scorekeeping, and other box lacrosse volunteer activities, please list.
  • Must be a team leader, on and off the floor.
  • Should have a consistent academic standard.


QCMBL LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE YEAR – FEMALE

Must be a Registered QCMBL Female Minor Box player between the age of 8-16
Nominations accepted from the membership.

  • Should be an above-average player
  • Should give extra back to Box Lacrosse such as Coaching, Refereeing, Scorekeeping, and other box lacrosse volunteer activities please list.
  • Must be a team leader, on and off the floor.
  • Should have a consistent academic standard.


QCMBL POSITIVE COACH OF THE YEAR (4)  NOVICE, PEEWEE, BANTAM, MIDGET

This organization is about more than sports. In addition to teaching skills and strategies, we encourage QCMBL coaches to be positive role models and help players develop positive character traits and increased self-esteem and self-confidence. To reinforce this we will select coaches from each QCMBL division that embody the values of the Positive Coaching Alliance for the Positive Coach Award. Nominations accepted from the membership.

  • Coaches will be selected by nomination from parents, players or other coaches in each division.
  • Must be an active coach in good standing within the QCMBL


QCMBL LACROSSE LEVEL 1 REFEREE OF THE YEAR

The QCMBL Level 1Referee of the Year Award is given annually to a level 1 official who has demonstrated commitment and excellence as a box lacrosse official. The award is determined by nomination from the QCMBL officiating group and Referee Scheduler and is based on:

  • Commitment to QCMBL lacrosse, demonstrated by serving as a level 1 referee for minor games and tournaments, for a minimum of one year.                                                                     
  • Growth as a referee, for instance, demonstrated by officiating higher level games when available.
  • Performance on the floor, determined through evaluation by senior members of the QCMBL referee mentoring committee. 

QCMBL LACROSSE SENIOR REFEREE OF THE YEAR

The QCMBL Senior Referee of the Year Award is given annually to a senior official who has demonstrated commitment and excellence as a lacrosse official. The award is determined by nomination from the QCMBL officiating group and Referee Scheduler and is based on:

  • Commitment to QCMBL lacrosse, demonstrated by serving as a Senior level 2 or 3 referee for minor and junior league games  for a minimum of three years.                                               
  • Growth as a referee, for instance, demonstrated by officiating higher level games and achieving level 2 or 3 certification.     Performance on the floor, determined through evaluation by senior members of the QCMBL referee mentoring committee. 

QCMBL LACROSSE BOB RYAN VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD

The QCMBL Volunteer of the Year Award was created to recognize the achievements and efforts of volunteers who have dedicated numerous hours of their time to Queen City Minor Box Lacrosse at the Board, Team Manager, Committee or Parent level. The award is named in honor of the late Mr. Bob Ryan, a former lacrosse coach, community volunteer and Past President of the Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association from Regina. Nominations for this award will be accepted from the membership.

QCMBL LACROSSE PRESIDENT’S AWARD         

This award, the QCMBL President's Award was created to promote and celebrate the spirit of volunteerism by annually giving the QCMBL President an opportunity to acknowledge and thank an individual or individual(s) who have demonstrated outstanding dedication and commitment to lacrosse within the QCMBL organization. This award is selected by the President or Vice President of QCMBL.
